As VI associate, Kay Baker, was preparing to travel to Honduras for an extended stay at the HOPE School, she asked the director of the school if there was anything she could bring her from the States.
The director’s response: “I would like so much to have a Bible with large print for my mom. Her eyesight has gotten bad and she cannot see to read the Bible she has.”
A large print Bible went on Kay’s list of supplies for the upcoming trip. She quickly realized the challenge would be finding a large print in Spanish.
You’ll notice by the picture above, Kay did finally locate a Bible that met the need. In the picture, the director’s mother is holding her new, large-print Bible (in Spanish) as her daughter looks on.
The things we take for granted are often what someone else is praying for.
This is the Visionaries spirit in action. There are times God allows big things to happen on mission to far away places.
And while those occasions are absolutely worth celebrating, sometimes it’s the small things – like handing a large print Bible to someone whose eyesight is failing – that have the biggest impact.
About fifteen minutes after they took this picture, the daughter (who had returned to her own home) received a phone call from her Mom saying, “I have read an entire chapter in my new Bible!”
